For this week’s Galaxy S5 ROM of the Week, check out latest CM11 ROM. They actually have been around for few months now but I was reluctant to recommend them as camera wasn’t working. Recently, camera has been fixed, which I am sure many of you guys need to run as daily driver.
For this week’s ROM of the Week, check out the latest version of Alliance ROM.
There’s now TWO different versions of Alliance ROM, one built from SM-G900F and one built from T-Mobile SM-G900T firmware. Both of these versions can be installed on SM-G900F, SM-G900I, SM-G900M, SM-G900T, and SM-G900W8. They are nearly identical features except the T-Mobile version includes WiFi Calling for T-Mobile users.
For those of you with Korean Galaxy S5 such as SM-G900S, SM-G900K, and SM-G900L, there is now a way to install custom ROMs on your Korean Galaxy S5. You should be able to install any SM-G900F or T-Mobile SM-G900T custom ROMs like Alliance ROM easily.
Since currently (as of writing this post) there’s no stock firmware available for AT&T Galaxy S5, you can use a SafeStrap Recovery backup to restore your AT&T Galaxy S5 SM-G900A. Now, this is the Android 4.4.2 ND3 firmware, it will only work if you have not upgraded your bootloader past ND3 most likely.
For those of you who have rooted your AT&T or Verizon Galaxy S5, you are probably wondering how in the world you are going to install custom ROMs when the bootloader is still locked.
FINALLY! Thank to XDA user GeoHot, we now have a new root method for AT&T SM-G900A or Verizon SM-G900V Galaxy S5. If you have been waiting for a long time for this root (as I have) don’t forget to donate to GeoHot for breaking the code and giving us root.
This will work on all Galaxy S5 models with Android 4.4.2 and does not trip KNOX. DOE NOT WORK WITH Android 5.0, 5.0.1, 5.0.2, 5.1, 5.1.1 Lollipop!
I know some of you tweeted/e-mailed me last week on how to get Adobe Flash Player working on your Galaxy S5 so let me show you “exactly” how to do it using a Galaxy S5 on stock TouchWiz ROM.
Step 1. Download the Adobe Flash Player APK File.
For this Week’s Galaxy S5 ROM of the Week, check out Project Infinity ROM by XDA user Tp2215, available for T-Mobile Galaxy S5 SM-G900T, Canadian SM-G900W8, and international variants like SM-G900F, SM-G900I, SM-G900M.
Based on latest T-Mobile Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware, Project Infinity ROM gives you an “infinite” number of options in its AROMA installer to give you the apps you want (remove all your bloatware) and add cool features like Loud Sound MOD, custom boot animations, custom kernels, different cameras, music players, and a ton more.
For those of you who rooted your T-Mobile Galaxy S5 and couldn’t update to the latest NE6 Android 4.4.2 update using OTA (over-the-air), you can just grab the Android 4.4.2 NE6 Stock ROM zip file made by XDA user BeansTown106.
This is 100% exact same version you can use to install using CWM or TWRP recovery, that way you don’t have to unroot or install stock firmware, both which can take a long time to do.
