Stock Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM + Root for Galaxy S5! [TouchWiz]

stock-android5.0-lollipop-rom-root-galaxys5-touchwiz

For those of you with T-Mobile or Canadian Galaxy S5, you can get Lollipoppin today not when T-Mobile or your carrier decides to upgrade your device.

You can get it through the VisionX ROM by XDA user AxAtAx.  This is a stock Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM with root that you can install on SM-G900F/900M/900I and also the T-Mobile SM-G900T and Canadian SM-G900W8.  Yes, this is actually based on SM-G900F so you will lose WiFi calling but no carrier-branded bloatware.

Compared to 100% stock firmware, this ROM is way faster and has absolutely, and also ships with KTweaker kernel, which allow you to get up to 3Ghz overclocking (I recommend up to 2.764Ghz unless you live in Alaska) and super-zippy TouchWiz launcher.

Overall, this is probably the best way to ugprade your S5 to latest TouchWiz lollipop for pure stock rooted experience without all the bloatware/crapware.  So, if you have an S5 model that supports it, try it out and do let me know what you think!

Download:

Download Stock Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM + Root (For SM-G900F/900M/900I, T-Mobile SM-G900T, and Canadian SM-G900W8)

Installation Instructions:

To install, reboot into recovery, make backup ROM, wipe data/factory reset, install ROM, and reboot.  (If for some reason you end up in a bootloop or get force-closed keyboard error on boot, reboot into CWM recovery, go to Mounts & Storage->format /system.  For TWRP, go to Wipe->Advanced Wipe->Wipe /system.)

Hi, for most of you all who have any sort of problems:
*Do a full wipes Ex: Clean to install new rom [Philz Recovery]
*In TWRP select to advance, wipe cache, data, and system…then do a fresh installation of the rom
*After the first boot do not accept UELA Diagnostic….. And you won’t get any bug at all…Rom is great and works well
I am using it since january daily…Ohhhh Update to latest kernel too…
hope I helped Someone there! 🙂

Canadian Rogers User here – sm-g900w8.

Installed this last night. All the basics seem to work so far but here are the following things I have noticed.

    – No LTE, only 4G
    – Cannot receive MMS (images through text)

Can You Please Make A Video On How To Install The MOAR Lollipop Rom For The Sprint Galaxy S5? I Tried Doing It And Almost Bricked My Phone

  12. mtchpr says:

Hi Peter….I installed the later version downloaded on the developer site. That rom work like a charm. 4G LTE sign not shown but on phone status LTE connected. MMS dont works on default messenger. I use a GO SMS Pro and works great. Need to add the APN manually.

    • Peter says:

      Hi mtchpr,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, regarding LTE, I found out afterwards I was indeed connected on LTE. MMS works for me on the default messenger now.

This build works fine. The only thing I found is that the battery life isn’t as good as it was prior to the upgrade. There is noticeable lag as well. I’ve been running it for a couple of days now. Resetting the phone does get rid of the lag, but once apps take up memory it seems to get slower and slower. Perhaps there is some minor memory leak going on here. I might upgrade to the Rogers official version to see if that’s better which will be released sometime in Feb/March.

      • mtchpr says:

        Hi Peter,

I notice the lag too. I’m on T-Mobile Unlocked version, using NET10 sim. Maybe that is the MMS problem I have.

    I don’t recommend to anyone

First reason: It doesn’t read my sim card

Second reason: If you turn of/ restart your cellphone, it will take at least 10 minutes to start again

Third reason: This is not the android 5.0, its just a copy of the real android (a custom rom)

      this is me again….

I must confess i’m a beginner so i dont know properly how to work with root, rom and all the others things….
basically everything that i do is following tutorials….

at the first time i didnt do the factory reset, i just put the 5.0 rom above everything, and it didnt work. I made a factory reset and my galaxy s5 didnt turn on anymore ( i thought that i had bricked my cellphone)

I made another factory reset and installed the same rom ( just to try) and now everything works fine ! my sim card is working, the android now is 5.0 but its like 10 or 15 minutes to turn on my cellphone again

hey, just a question… i flashed this rom on my Canadian model on Telus. Normally i have LTE at the top.
Since the flash it says 3g/h+

What can i do to get lte speeds?

  18. 2wicenoni says:

for t-mobile user the fluctuating network issue is that after you flash in the vision X rom and reboot it pls don’t touch the device when it comes up wait till the screen goes blank then after that when it reaches the stage of EUALE select NO then skip every other thing. when done you can then sign in your gmail account and every other thing

How can I control the CPU usage. I keep hearing how amazing the battery life is on this ROM, but quite frankly, it blows. the battery will barely last 6 hours. I have SETCPU and even when in use, it won’t let the CPU go below 1958 MHz or above 2457 MHz. So, it’s just burning away at my battery even when sitting. Something is not right. I have looked all over the phone and cannot find how to change these settings within the ROM itself. Please, someone help me. Let me know what I may be doing wrong, or if I am asking for too much!
